Governing Enterprise LLMs Beyond RAG

Enterprise AI stops being a retrieval problem once users combine document meaning with calculations over structured data. The article explains an architecture in which RAG handles semantic questions, Databricks Genie executes governed SQL, and agents route compound requests across both paths. It argues that production trust depends on six controls—data, model, prompt, evaluation, operational, and responsible AI governance—covering permissions, versioning, testing, monitoring, cost, privacy, and human oversight. Leaders should treat governance as the operating layer that allows models, prompts, and tools to change without weakening security or answer quality.
